Departing after breakfast, you will pass through Hopkins Village and connect with the Southern Highway, heading toward the Maya Mountains which are visible in the distance.
After a short drive, you arrive at Mayflower Bocawina National Park where your guide will lead you briefly through an uncovered Mayan ruins site, which has several ceremonial mounds as well as an ancient ball court. Tulane & Yale universities have begun excavating this site, which like many of the hundreds of Maya locations in Belize remains partially overgrown by the jungle. After visiting the site, your hike will then traverse Silk Grass Creek and venture deeper and higher into the jungle.
The hike to Antelope Falls is rigorous but truly worth the effort. The waterfall drop some 100 feet from above your head and cascade down a massive rock face, forming small pools ideal for swimming. A steep trail leads to the top of the falls and from this vantage point the breathtaking views include the jungle and even the Caribbean Sea! Here you will find yet another beautiful pool and you are invited to take a long and refreshing dip.
After admiring the falls and enjoying the peaceful ambiance, the tour will head back down the hill where you will have the chance again to view the beautiful jungle setting.
